1st cold market<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

What the Zibelem\u00e4rit is to Bern and the Sechsel\u00e4uten to Zurich, the Kalte Markt is to Sch\u00fcpfheim. Every year on the second Thursday in November<\/strong>, life comes to a standstill and Sch\u00fcpfheimers and homesick Sch\u00fcpfheimers meet in the village to enjoy the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. First mentioned in 1150<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The name Sch\u00fcpfheim was first mentioned in a document in 1150<\/strong>. It was presumably derived from “schipf”, which meant a place that was protected from the water by means of constructions to build a settlement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3rd Unesco Biosphere <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Sch\u00fcpfheim lies in the centre of the Unesco Biosphere Entlebuch<\/a><\/strong> and offers a wide range of activities for young and old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5th Summer Night Festival<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Jordan Guggenmusig has been<\/strong> organising the “Egglifest<\/a>” in Sch\u00fc<\/strong> pfheim together with around 200 volunteers since 2001<\/strong>, which has become a permanent fixture at regional events in recent years. The various bars, marquees and especially the outdoor stage with its live acts offer something to suit every taste.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

6th Entlebucher Alpabfahrt<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Alpine descent has been celebrated in the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch since 2003.<\/strong> Every September, seven alpine families in traditional costume parade 200 cows and cattle from their rustic alpine huts around S\u00f6renberg down to Sch\u00fcpfheim. They are accompanied by colourful folklore groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7th Emmen riverside trail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The unspoilt river landscape between Entlebuch and Wolhusen is an insider tip for nature lovers. <\/strong>The hike leads through a protected floodplain area, repeatedly taking you to the banks of the wild course of the Kleine Emme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8th Entlebucherhaus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The 100-year-old <\/strong>Entlebucherhaus<\/strong><\/a> has always been home to a wide variety of people: formerly a children’s asylum, special school, agricultural school – today a museum and cultural centre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
