Fun facts about Klewenalp that you didn’t know yet!

1st reduction transmitter

The medium-wave transmitter stationed on the Klewenalp, which was built after the start of the Second World War, was used to provide the Swiss population with radio coverage in the event that the land transmitters were destroyed or captured in hostilities. An approx. 80 metre high transmission tower from the former Geneva transmitter was used for the installation, which was dismantled and rebuilt at the corresponding location.

2. longest toboggan run in the Lucerne-Lake Lucerne Region

At 11 kilometres, the toboggan run from Klewenalp to Emmetten is the longest toboggan run in the Lucerne-Lake Lucerne Region.

3. 40 km of perfectly groomed pistes

During the ski season, winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy 40 km of perfectly groomed pistes for skiers and snowboarders in Klewenalp.

4. longest aerial cableway in Central Switzerland

The journey on the longest aerial cableway in Central Switzerland to Klewenalp, 1600 metres above sea level, takes just ten minutes.

5th KlewenAlpFestival

Every summer, the KlewenAlpFestival takes place on the Klewenalp. It lasts three days and offers a lot of folk music.

6th world record attempt

Together with the Swiss Yodelling Association and five sub-associations, Bergbahnen Beckenried-Emmetten AG is planning a spectacular alphorn world record attempt on 31 August 2024. At least 555 alphorn players are to gather on the Klewenalp and play choral melodies together.
