1st longest descent in the Surselva
Thelongest descent in the area starts at the top station of the La Siala chairlift. On wide carving pistes, occasionally also on narrower drag trails, it goes downhill from here – first to Grauberg, then to Startgels and finally to the edge of the village of Flims.
2nd UNESCO World Heritage Site
Flims is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Tectonic Arena Sardona”. The Tectonic Arena Sardona is a geologically unique area that shows the formation of the Alps.
3rd Senda Romontscha
The 6km-long language trail explains how the Romansh language came into being in 15v. Chr. after the arrival of the Romans, when the Romansh language area reached its greatest extent and why it then became smaller.

Flims is famous for its architecture, especially for the unique works of the architect Rudolf Olgiati. He was a leading representative of the New Objectivity movement and mainly built detached houses in Graubünden, as well as restoring old patrician and farmhouses. Flims owes its unique, terraced location to a natural disaster. Around 9,000 years ago, at the end of the Ice Age, the prehistoric Flims landslide occurred. The landslide tore limestone rock the size of around 13 Matterhörner from the Flimserstein and filled in the Rhine.

Completely renovated in 1998 by Mr Valerio Olgiati at a cost of CHF 1.4 million, the once inconspicuous yellow house in the village centre now shines in white . Only the name has been retained.
