On 28 June 2024, the new Foxtrail Stella was officially opened on the Wettingen monastery peninsula. This exciting adventure, which combines history, culture and excitement in a unique way, was created in close collaboration with the Museum Aargau.

Foxtrail has established itself as the number one scavenger hunt in Switzerland and has been offering unforgettable experiences for over two decades. With over 70 customised trails, Foxtrail is a unique outdoor activity for companies, groups and families. Each trail utilises the geographical and cultural characteristics of the region and provides access to special places. Through exclusive partnerships and creative puzzles, Foxtrail promotes teamwork and creates unforgettable experiences. The new Foxtrail Stella is the latest example of this successful formula.
The route
The Stella Trail starts at the Wettingen Monastery Guest Centre and leads along the Limmat riverside path and through the monastery garden back to the starting point. Participants can expect a fascinating journey into the past, on which they solve exciting puzzles, discover the surroundings and acquire historical and cultural knowledge. The game takes about 2-3 hours.
The story
The history of the trail is just as impressive as the experience itself. It begins with Knight Henry II of Rapperswil, who returned from a crusade and was surprised by a storm on the high seas. In desperation, he prayed to St Mary, whereupon a bright star calmed the waves and saved his life. In gratitude, he vowed to build a monastery. Depictions of Mary as a mermaid in Wettingen Abbey still bear witness to this miracle today.

The cooperation with the Museum Aargau makes it possible to convey the historical and cultural significance of the Wettingen monastery peninsula in an interactive and exciting way. The Museum Aargau is one of the leading institutions for historical and cultural education in the canton of Aargau and offers a variety of programmes and activities at ten museum locations that bring the rich history and culture of the region closer. In addition to the Stella Foxtrail, the trails at Lenzburg Castle, Hallwyl Castle, Wildegg Castle and Vindonissa were also successfully realised thanks to the collaboration with the Museum Aargau.
