Welcome back to the magical realm of forests! Today we are once again embarking on a journey of discovery into the hidden treasures of our green lungs. Having already presented some of our fascinating trails through the majestic forests of Switzerland in our previous article , we would now like to present another selection.
On the trail of the fox, we not only experience and admire the unrivalled beauty of nature, but also the urgent need to protect it. Our trails are not only an adventure, but also a commitment to environmental protection and the sustainable preservation of our natural environment.
Foxtrail Alti – Lausanne (Western Switzerland region)
Alti is not for couch potatoes: after starting at Lausanne railway station, the trail continues into the Sauvabelin forest. You reach the lookout tower from where you can admire Lausanne, the surrounding mountains and Lac Léman. The trail leads you back to the city centre via Sauvabelin-Seeli. Impressive landmarks such as the Place de la Riponne with its magnificent zoological museum and the famous Lausanne Cathedral line your route. You pass through the pretty alleyways of the old town and end up in the Bessière district.
Foxtrail Aristoteles – Zurich (Zurich region and surroundings)
The trail starts in the bustling shopville of the main railway station. From there, you continue to Römerhof and take the ‘Bähnli’ to the posh Dolder Hotel, which stands high above Zurich in the countryside. You follow the Wolfsbach stream through the enchanting forest and end up in Fluntern. The walk takes you through the residential neighbourhood, past the church and up to the observatory on the ETH site. The trail ends in the pretty alleyways of Niederdorf.
Foxtrail Artemis – Klewenalp (Lucerne region and surroundings)
Come with us into the wonderful mountain world around the Artemis trail. The start is at the valley station of the Klewenalp mountain railway, where you can take the cable car to hunt for clues. A first-class view of Lake Uri and numerous mountain peaks awaits you at the top. If you start after 1.50 p.m., make sure you walk quickly so that you make it down to the valley in time for the last gondola at 5.30 p.m.! The mountain railway ticket is included in the price.
Summer: A leisurely circular hiking trail gives you the opportunity to experience the alpine flora and fauna as well as the Foxtrail posts at the same time.
Winter: If there is enough snow, an adrenaline rush awaits you on the rapid toboggan run. You will find the final post after a chairlift ride.
Product not foundFoxtrail Athena Summer – Sonnenberg (Lucerne region and surroundings)
After starting at Lucerne railway station, the trail leads to Kriens. You walk through the Hofmatt neighbourhood and through the Bellpark towards Sonnenberg. Take the funicular railway up to Kriens’ local mountain. Once at the top, you will be impressed by the view over the Alps before heading through the forest towards Obergütsch. You finish the trail with a bus ride back to the town centre.
Foxtrail Elixia – Illnau-Effretikon (Zurich region and surroundings)
The trail takes you to idyllic Illnau-Effretikon – past green fields, forests and cosy houses. You start at Effretikon railway station and are immediately confronted with an ancient secret. You find a love potion in an old well – but which one is it? To find the right source, you’ll need to use your instincts. Listen carefully, the song of the nightingale will show you the way to the miracle elixir. The highlight follows at Moosburg Castle before you finish the trail at Effretikon Reformed Church.
Foxtrail Emma – Langnau im Emmental, Schüpfheim (Lucerne region and surroundings)
The Emma trail takes you through the paradisiacal nature of the Emmental and the UNESCO Entlebuch Biosphere Reserve. You start either in Langnau or Schüpfheim and then follow the trail of the fox to Trubschachen. Beautiful Bernese houses, lots of nature (forest) and plenty of Swissness await you on this trail. The duration of the trail can vary depending on the train connection.
The train journey back to your starting point is included in the ticket. This trail can also be started in Schüpfheim.
Foxtrail Gallus – St. Gallen (Eastern Switzerland region)
Discover the old town of St. Gallen and the Drei Weieren! The trail starts with the Appenzellerbahn railway, which takes you out into nature. From the Notkersegg monastery, you walk into the beautiful Drei Weiher area. The green landscapes and views as far as Lake Constance offer a special treat for the eyes. Then it’s off to the old town of St. Gallen. Historical highlights await you there with the world-famous Abbey Library and the Abbey Square.
Foxtrail Helios – Weggis, Vitznau (Lucerne region and surroundings)
There are many reasons to visit Vitznau: The village lies in an idyllic bay on Lake Lucerne – the Lucerne Riviera. After starting at the railway station, the trail leads up the mountain towards Hinterbergen. You will be challenged at a post at the former military fortress and continue to the waterfall. Enjoy the view of the unique panorama in the heart of Switzerland. Helios will then take you to Weggis, where you will cross the Hügeri hill. The final stretch along the lake is also a highlight with a fantastic view of the Alps.
Foxtrail Ikarus – Züriberg (Zurich region and surroundings)
Ikarus is the Foxtrail above the rooftops of Zurich. The start takes you via the Letten viaduct to the Unterer Letten river baths. The steps take you through the residential neighbourhood of Wipkingen and finally up the mountain on the Rigiblick cable car. There are more steps to climb until you reach the Spyristeig trail at the top at the edge of the forest. The effort is rewarded with a unique view over the city. You walk along the hiking trails to the zoo and then take the Polybahn, a Zurich landmark, to Central.
Good winter shoes are advisable in winter.
Foxtrail Picasso – Kloten (Zurich region and surroundings)
At Picasso, you are right in the middle of the action surrounding a spectacular art heist. The trail starts at Zurich-Kloten Airport and leads to the futuristic building “THE CIRCLE”. The funicular railway takes you high up to the sky platform and through Butzenbüelpark. The route then takes you to the Balsberg radar station, where you have to hack into the airport’s radar system. But don’t waste too much time, the fences won’t wait! The trail leads you through the forest and along the rope park back to Kloten.
